I have been a part of SPIN since it's infancy. SPIN is so much more than just a support group for single parents. This group ended up becoming more like a family of choice for me. I have seen first hand the lives that have changed dramatically through the generosity and compassion that has come from this organization. Other moms (myself included) often find ourselves in a meeting in complete despair, but often leave with either a solution or at the very least encouragement and the knowledge that "you are not alone." Although tears are often shed, there are also many laughs as well as enjoyment. The kids are happy and well taken care of and we're allowed a moment to just breathe and be seen. SPIN has helped shape me into the mom and the person that I am today. I will be forever grateful for the help I've recieved as well as the relationships I've made.

When I was first invited to SPIN, I had no idea I’d still be going six years later! As a single mom of kids with special needs my situation had made it to the point where it was normalized to be reserved. You often find yourself struggling and yet also independent. My greatest need is quality connections. Spin helps fill this place in my world. They do this in a number of ways, summer cookouts, Christmas parties, meeting one on one for helping organize or coffee. On Mother’s Day they've given us flowers or gift cards to show us we're remembered and thought of. These acts of kindness and service have turned my world into a happier socializing place. Over the years the kids and I have faced hardships. In those times, Spin has helped solve those hardships with me. These things impacted our life so that as we were struggling, we were able to keep going, which I am grateful for. Without Spin's light shined on my family we would not have met the loving hearts that put this wonderful idea into action.
